I Care For Moms is the realization of a vision shared by Konah Raynes and Dianne Renaud. Konah grew up in war-torn Liberia. He is one of nine children who survived difficult circumstances that he recognizes were mitigated by his mother’s love and protection. Konah lost his mother in 1980. In 1998, He confronted yet again the conditions facing women in Africa, when his sister, Yata, died in childbirth, at the age of 33 — a death that was entirely preventable.

Konah immigrated to Canada in 1995, bringing with him a determination to make a positive change for mothers and babies in Africa.

In Canada, he connected with Dianne Renaud, a registered nurse, who has more than 25 years experience working in maternal and perinatal care. Dianne has medical training in obstetrics, is a member of the Ontario Nurses Association, and is a lactation consultant. She is also committed to proactively improving conditions for women and children in under-developed countries.

Together, in September, 2014, Konah and Dianne established “I Care For Moms” a not for profit organization dedicated to building safe, birth clinics in Liberia/Africa, where women can receive proper medical care and support.

To date, “I Care For Moms” has purchased land in Liberia, on which the first clinic has been built. Our goal this year is to raise funds to hire Doctors, Nurses, and purchase additional clinic equipment,  an Ultra sound machine, set up a Pharmacy, a lab, and see Yata’s clinic open its doors in 2022 . We are also establishing partnerships with health and medical supply sources to realize the rest of the plan.

Our organization is grounded on three pillars: Providing birth support, medical intervention and education of pregnant women and their newborn in Liberia/Africa. We invite you to join us in realizing Our Mission!
